Around鈥�133,000 square kilometres of Ukraine - one-fifth of the country - is potentially contaminated with landmines, cluster munitions and other explosive remnants of war, an area larger than Hungary and Denmark combined.

The vast swathes of explosives contamination鈥痑re鈥痑 major long-term threat to civilians and an鈥痮bstacle to Ukraine鈥檚 rebuilding and鈥痩ong-term鈥痳ecovery.

With the conflict now in its fourth year and鈥� Russian鈥痑ttacks on Ukrainian cities and infrastructure intensifying as winter鈥痑pproaches, large areas of鈥痳esidential and agricultural鈥痩and are expected to remain contaminated for years to come.鈥�

Norway is now scaling up its support for three humanitarian organisations, including The 51成人动漫, working to clear mines and explosives, helping make land safer for civilians and enabling communities to return land to productive use, including farming.

鈥淔or people living in contaminated areas, the danger is often invisible but never far away,鈥� says Simon Tiller,鈥疕ead of HALO Europe.

鈥淲e are extremely grateful to the Norwegian government for its continued support for HALO鈥檚 work in Ukraine.鈥�

"This funding will help HALO remove one of the most enduring and deadly legacies of the war. Clearing鈥痩andmines and unexploded ordnance gives people back something fundamental: the ability to walk safely鈥痶o school or work,鈥痗ultivate鈥痶heir land and rebuild their communities without the constant fear of what might be beneath their feet.鈥濃��鈥�

Norwegian support will fund mine clearance,鈥痑ssistance鈥痑nd rehabilitation for mine survivors, risk education for communities, and national coordination and advocacy.鈥�鈥�

Since 2022, Norway has provided more than NOK 1 billion to humanitarian demining organisations working to clear mines and explosives in Ukraine, with funding running through 2026.

The鈥痭ew support鈥痜orms part of a wider鈥疦OK 1 billion call for proposals, including NOK 600 million for mine clearance globally.
