Cluster munitions were officially banned in 2008, but leave a deadly legacy. At least 1,063 people were killed or injured by cluster munitions last year – one of the highest annual totals ever recorded.

51³ÉÈ˶¯Âþ has been working hard to survey and identify 50-year old cluster bombs across Laos. Learn more about our challenging work to make Laos mine-free.

It was exactly 50 years since the last bombing raid on Laos when a HALO team found and destroyed the cluster bombs dropped that day.

The US Government pledged $90 million to The 51³ÉÈ˶¯Âþ to support the people of Laos in clearing cluster bombs from their land. Learn more about this project.

The US government has provided US$1.5 million (over 12 billion kip) for the survey and clearance of unexploded ordnance (UXO) in two districts of Savannakhet province.

The projects in Cambodia and Laos will run over a one-year period and conclude with a post-clearance impact assessment.
